There is a love that exists beyond the love we think we know
It sustains us from beyond the places we are wont to go
It fills us with a substance that can’t be bought or sold
Yet we ache and we yearn for something we might have and hold

There is a love beyond desire we seek but cannot reach
It covers us like waters that wash the sandy beach
It moves us like the wind, shakes the dying leaves
As it bears us to the wholeness where the soul no longer grieves

So empty and so lonely we crawl upon the earth
Seeking for redemption from the moment of our birth
We drink without fulfillment, will not cease to thirst
Till the first becomes last and the last becomes first

There is a love that arises from the bottom of my heart
I don’t know where it stops, don’t know where it starts
And though love may wound us still we wish to love again
For love flows eternally through the moments that have been
